Review:
I never really have any expectations when it comes to reading poetry, because you never really know what you're going to get. but I knew within the first few pages that this was something for me. With this, you get beautifully painted images in the form of a book, a book you definitely should read if you're a poetry lover.
This poetry collection had me hooked from the start. The authors takes ordinary things and brings them to life. I often find modern poetry (that little that I've read) to be lacking in a certain romanticism when it comes to objects, it often feels very gray, but this was a breath of fresh air.
There's always going to be some poems you enjoy more than others, but overall, all of them were pretty good. One of my favourites from this collection is "Dissection of Painted Things":
To me, there's a wonderful mix of romance, darkness, humour, magic and truth in this collection. I would very much recommend this if you enjoy poetry.

There was a time when he only wanted
to be one of them, those painted things
glistening on the shelf for dead objects,
which develop new colors when
left in the dark for a long time.
When nobody is looking, they twitch
their porcelain ears and open their
glass lips in preperations for speech.
Soon, he will scalpel their tiny torsos apart
then sketch the Y-incision for the damned.
How dark they were underneath
those colors. How blodlessly calm.

I also really enjoyed "The Evidence Locker":
Reconstructed bits of a tragic tale
now bagged, labeled, sealed.
A leaf with a portion of a boot imprint,
a hammer, a chipped coffee cup,
a rusted knife, a glass shard -
tell us your story, teach us how
a wreckage calls out
to its survivor.
