Review:
This was a sweet and cosy read, with moments of depth and pretty writing scattered throughout.

I very much enjoyed the experience of reading this. It's quite a light read in a lot ways; the writing isn't too complex and neither is the story. It builds up a bit towards the end, but there's no real breaking point. It's simply a lovely story about an stubborn and chipper old lady who goes for a walk and recalls her life.

I really enjoyed the setting of New York, both in the past and the present of the story, and you get a pretty clear image of who Lillian Boxfish is, which I really liked. I did find that I enjoyed the first part of the story more than the second, as I found it dragged a bit on towards the end.

I would say this is an enjoyable and entertaining read, and I would recommend it if you like stories set in New York and historical fiction.
