Review:
I've never read anything by Rushdie before and am unfamiliar with his history and his life, and I think that was a disadvantage in reading this. I do like the fragments in this book, but it's clear that it's taken from longer pieces of writing, and I felt overall the book was disjointed and too brief. Obviously, the point of these kinds of books is to be short, but I found the whole thing slightly lacking.

However, I really enjoyed the writing style and this has made me want to read some of his novels and it even pointed me in the direction of the specific novel I want to read, so for that it was worth the read. I think it's an interesting book to read if you're more familiar with the authors work, as I think that would be helpful in piecing the excerpts together to create a whole picture.
